I love Veruca Salt!!!

Veruca Salt:
"I want a ball
I want a party
Pink macaroons and a million balloons
And performing baboons and ...
Give it to me
Rrhh rhhh Now!

I want the world
I want the whole world
I want to lock it all up in my pocket
It's my bar of chocolate
Give it to me
Now!

I want today
I want tomorrow
I want to wear 'em like braids in my hair
And I don't want to share 'em
I want a party with room fulls of laughter
Ten thousand tons of ice cream
And if I don't get the things I am after
I'm going to scream!

I want the works
I want the whole works
Presents and prizes and sweets and surprises
Of all shapes and sizes
And now
Don't care how
I want it now!!"

Oompa Loompas:
"Oompa Loompa doompadee doo
I've got another puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doompadah dee
If you are wise you will listen to me

Who do you blame when your kid is a brat
Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat?
Blaming the kids is a lion of shame
You know exactly who's to blame:
The mother and the father!

Oompa Loompa doompadee dah
If you're not spoiled then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doompadee do."

Jeanne Drevas

"None of my “baskets” functions as carriers of produce from the garden. They offer themselves as the produce, the gleam of grass and pine needle, the texture of bark, bone of stripped honeysuckle. My work is about effort and time, experiment and wonder at the gleanings I encounter in the forest." - Jeanne Drevas

Elizabeth Frank

"Each of my pieces begins with fallen aspen branches that I gather in the mountains of the southwestern United States. I make at least one trip to the mountains annually to gather the material that I will use over the course of the year. I view this journey as a pilgrimage. In my studio I combine the aspen with broken, discarded and distressed materials. I use found materials as visual metaphors, often choosing objects which speak to me of decay and resurrection, cultural trends, history and myth. Through the combination of organic and found elements I allude to the human impact upon the environment, the transience of earthly things, and the process of change." - Elizabeth Frank

Caroline Saul

"I am a designer-maker based in Brighton working with recycled plastics. My work is a process-led exploration of colour, texture, material, patterning, shape and form.
My passion lies with the creation of new materials from objects that might otherwise be thrown away. The development of my recycled plastics leads to the creation of sculptural bulbous vessels." - Caroline Saul

Michal Golan

"My work with mosaics has been a formative and important part of my art for the past ten years. There are two parallel forces that drive and inspire my artistic work. First is a deep fascination with archeology and ancient civilizations, especially in the use of symbols and hieroglyphics. I find the way cultures build on each other, physically creating unique layers, is a rich source of inspiration. The second source of my inspiration is the visual richness that I encounter in my everyday life. Even the most basic sights can inspire: a visit to the fabric store, a trip to Brazil, shows at the Met." - Michal Golan

Baharal and Gnida

"Tayla Baharal and Gene Gnida explore volume, form and line through their silver, bronze and copper pieces. Finely textured cables offset the smooth burnished surfaces of their highly sculptural work. Their often large, voluminous forms reflect a sculptural emphasis in their design. A quiet geometry." - Patina Gallery

Lizzie Thomas

"I express my ideas through the media of paper cutting, woodwork, books arts and print. My work is an exploration of narrative, myth and metaphor. I am particularly interested in the use of symbol in fairytale and folklore and also write my own stories. I take inspiration from the use of wood and paper in Japanese spiritual life. I use 2D to create 3D by introducing layering and movement into materials." - Lizzie Thomas

To do...

Roberta and David Williamson

The expertly hand-crafted work above is from artists Roberta and David Williamson. All pieces are designed and created by the couple without the help of assistants. The one-of-a-kind pieces are sawed, formed, fabricated, soldered, finished and patinated by the artist who have worked together for over 40 years.

John and Robin Gumaelius

John & Robin Gumaelius are the artist of the whimsical and detailed ceramic work. This is just one of their series. I was also enamored with the "Story Bird" work. You can see more of their work at http://gumaeliusstudios.com/.

Alex Adams

"Alex Adams creates powerful, poignant, mixed media sculpture, combining glass, metal, wood and found objects. His current “Boxcar” sculptures are metaphors for individual(s) in society, and at times the nature of society itself.
The boxcars imply motion, travel and movement. Though history, if not geography. At the same time, the box itself is a device to suggest containment – of the individual inside or of the trait of Society Alex wishes us to acknowledge." - Prism Gallery
